Abstract

Women entrepreneurship has gained relevance to the academic and scientific community for a little more than 30 years, however most studies cover internal aspects of entrepreneurial intention, such as tastes, perceptions and what happens in the mind of the enterprising or the entrepreneur. INTRODUCTION. This is why it is important to know what happens with the environment, how the context in which women develop has a positive or negative influence on their intention to undertake. OBJECTIVE. This research analyzes the contexts faced by women in their environment in the city of Quito D.M., and specifically how the social context affects their entrepreneurial decision. METHOD. Qualitative research instruments were used through interviews with women entrepreneurs of the program "Women undertaking successful" of CONQUITO and quantitative through surveys in digital format to women founders of companies and managers of companies in the city of Quito. RESULTS In the investigation, the variables family and networks within the social context were deepened. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS. It was concluded that the family has a positive influence on the decision to undertake and that contact networks are a very important factor in the population studied.
